Checking the charts.  It's a big ocean and we don't want to get lost. |

Hens and Chickens shoal |

We have arrived!!!! We must fly the international quarantine flag until we clear customs and immigration. It was a piece of cake on Bimini. |
We're all checked in and now we'll fly the Bahamian courtesy flag the rest of the time we're here. |
Conch shells are used to line pathways, decorate walls and houses, etc. etc. etc. |
Back of the shark lab research center on South Bimini. About 10-12 young researchers live in this house at any given time. |
Trail to shark pens in nearby cove.  They capture and study sharks then tag and release them to compare movements. They mostly study lemon sharks since they have a small range and are easy to handle. |
Our tour guide catching a lemon shark. |
Nurse shark but he's not too happy. |
The sharks go into a state of stasis when turned over. |
Front of shark lab. |
Shark researcher on break.  He had a nasty bite on one finger when a shark wasn't quite in stasis and reached around to exact some revenge. |
South Bimini dock.  There is only a few hundred yards separating the two but there is a treacherous current. |
We were told this was the only sort-of paved road on south Bimini.  We took a bus to the shark lab but walked the 2 miles back so we could walk the nature trail on the way. |
This was part of our group that went over.  We're on the nature trail at a ruins of a house. |
This is a private house but must be a patriot since they used the colors and symbols of the national flag. |
