On Down The Road

We have been out for a little over 2 weeks now and still having a good time. So many people had told us that the 2-4 week time frame would teach us whether we want to ever do this again or go home and sell the boat. For us, we're planning the next one. We'll see how true that holds once we hit the open water to make it down to Marathon and then on down to Boca Chica and out to the Marquesas and then the Dry Tortugas. Keep Checking!!

Since the last blog we stayed over night in Venice on the public dock across from the Venic Yacht Club. Since we were an easy walk, we were still able to take advantage of the amenities such as the outdoor bar with happy hour pricing and most important, a washer/dryer combo!!! Who'd a thunk how nice clean clothes could make you feel! Yesterday we made our way down to a small anchorage between Useppa Island and Cabbage Key. We had a burger at the touristy resteraunt on Cabbage Key and went on their nature trail. We saw so many new varieties of plants. One was a tree climbing type of cactus. It had long tendrils complete with cactus thorns but climbing up whatever was handy. We also learned about a Spanish Stopper tree so called because they used the berries to stop diarrea. Most awesome was a pair of osprey flying less than a few hundred feet above our heads. Of course, I had not thought to bring a camera so you'll just have to come and see things for yourself. Today we're off to anchor behind Ft. Meyer's Beach. The weather is due to become unfavorable on Sunday so we'll hole up in Naples probably tomorrow night. Hopefully I'll be able to find a connection and catch up the blog.

Along the way, we've seen a lot of cool things and wildlife. I will try and post some pictures in another posting once I have more power. We're on the hook now so I have to recharge and try to find another open spot.
