Deja Vu and Other things

We went out riding the loaner bikes again yesterday afternoon and saw some unique pieces of lawn art and beautiful old houses. One house was built by the founder of Palmetto, a Mr. Phillips. It has been painstakingly restored and is a great example of Queen Anne style of architecture. The sign said so! A little ways down the road we thought we recogized this marina area but figure out why. Then....we saw the Massey yacht sales and remembered this was the place where we had first visited in the search for our boat. We had come in from a different direction and we hadn't even realized we were in the same area. The heady elation of buying a boat and the terror of writing a check that big must have shoved all other memories of the place to the dark recesses of our brains, and those places can be very dark. It was an unplanned sort of homecoming and we've been grateful to find our boat so it was a nice one. Of course, once we got over the sentimentality we came back to join the Mariah crew for happy hours.

Overall, this has been an awesome stop. Fellow boaters, this is a must do stop. Dockmaster Ray is second to none. I have never seen anyone so energetic and dogged in his service to others. He and the other people, especially Mike and Phyllis made our visit a great one.
