More Pictures from Staniel Cay

We loved this sign.  It is about a perfect description of the people we've met so far.

Like so many enterprises we've come across in our Bahamian travels, this is closed up.  It is very close to the bit of rock that houses the Thunderball grotto.

This is the most crowded anchorage yet with dozens of boats.  We are secure from the strong east winds behind Big Major Cay.  It is close to Staniel Cay but a very long, wet dingy ride upwind.  The stores and yacht club are all over there so we make the trip.

Staniel Cay yacht club.  We spent one night there to fill our water tank and have that long sought after burger.  The onion rings were sublime!  We had hoped to buy more groceries but the boat wasn't due until Wednesday.  Due to unexplained circumstances, the boat didn't come in until Thursday.  On the same boat comes a limited supply of propane not available until Friday.  The supply boat is also the mail boat.

These colorful cottages are available to rent from the club.  There are also some others on the other side of the club.  The club seems to be the hub of cruiser life on Staniel.  People are coming and going constantly.  Grand Central on a smaller scale.

This boat is from Grapevine, TX (note the flag half way up the mast).  This small town is near where I grew up and still have a lot of family.  I asked them if they had brought it down the Trinity River (an impossibility for those not familiar with the area) and they laughed and said I-10 was their route.  They are traveling with another boat trucked down with theirs.  It was nice to talk Texan!

This boat is also from Florida and also named Sanctuary.  Think anyone would confuse us?

We have laundry hanging all over to dry.  Sadly, within a few hours of hanging it all out, the heavens opened up.  We quickly took it all down and started over the next day.  Clean undies were nice.

My handy-dandy washing machine!

For you youngsters in the crowd, this is a phone booth.  I checked, no quarters and no Clark Kent.

I took this one for Angela.  A future place of employment in an awesome location.  Good medical care would always be appreciated.
